Online Tutoring Terms of Service

This agreement is between you (an adult over the age of 18) and the tutor that you (or your child) works with (not with Clarity Maths itself).

"We" refers to your tutor

"You" refers to the adult with whom this contract is made

"Student" refers to the person receiving the tuition (which may be you or your child)

Appointment Times

Most students do one or two lessons per week, but other schedules can be arranged.

There is no minimum number of lessons and you can discontinue lessons at any time.

We aim to be as flexible and accommodating as we can regarding appointment times. If you need to rearrange a lesson, we will do our best to fit you in at a mutually convenient time.

If you need to cancel a lesson, please make sure that you give us at least four hours notice. If you do not give us at least four hours notice, you will be charged a missed lesson fee of £10.  (This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances, at our discretion.)

We reserve the right to cancel all future lessons if you are unable to attend regularly since someone else may be waiting for a tuition place.

Supervision

Students under the age of 13 are expected to be supervised by a responsible adult during all lessons.  We do not encourage children to use the internet unattended.  This also allows the parent/guardian to see what their child is working on, and how the tuition is progressing.

School Homework

Our tutors will not do a student's school homework or assignments.  We are happy to help the student with similar questions so that he/she can understand the work that has been assigned, but we will not undermine the school teacher's assessment process by telling the student the answers to specific questions.

Technical Problems

Due to the nature of the internet, we are unable to guarantee that all the technical services we need will be available at all times.  If your lesson is cancelled or severely disrupted due to technical issues, you will receive a full refund for that lesson.

Clarity Maths uses third parties for our virtual classroom and VOIP services.  In addition to agreeing to our terms of service, you will need to agree to the terms and conditions of these external service providers in order to take online lessons with us.  (We will let you know which services you need, and you will see their terms and conditions when you sign up on their websites. There should be no charge for the use of these services.)  You acknowledge that we have no control over these external services.

Please note that you are solely responsible for all charges for accessing the internet via your Internet Service Provider.

Copyright

The online lessons and all the materials we use for teaching are copyright of Clarity Maths or the individual tutors (or of various third parties) and may not be shared or distributed in any way unless you have written permission from the copyright owner.

No Warranties

Our tutors work hard to help our students succeed in their maths education, but we cannot make any guarantee that they will improve their grades or pass their exams.  The success of the tuition is dependent on many factors including the ability of the student, how far behind they are, how much time we have, and the amount of effort the student expends.

We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability of the information or services we provide. Any reliance you place on such information is therefore strictly at your own risk.

In no event will we be liable for any loss or damage including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of or in connection with the use of our services.

Termination

This tutoring contract may be terminated by either party at any time. There is no notice period required, however we do appreciate you letting us know in advance where possible so that we can use the appointment time for other students.

Changes to Terms of Service

You acknowledge that we have the right to change our terms of service at any time.  The updated terms of service will be posted here, and, if they are affected, current students will be advised of the changes. If you choose to continue lessons with us, this will be taken as your agreement to our revised tutoring terms of service.

Please make sure that you also agree to our Website Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
